Statement of Faith
Statement
of Faith
Scripture
We believe the Bible is the written and inspired Word of God, infallible
and inerrant in its original manuscripts, and the authoritative rule of
faith for the direction of the whole of life. In the Bible God has revealed
Himself to mankind. (II Peter 1:21, II Timothy 3:16)
God
We believe there is only one God, who is the Creator of all things and
eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; each
fully God; each showing fully the divine nature. (John 1:1-2, Genesis
1:1-2, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:14)
Father
- We believe in the Father as the absolute ruler of the universe. He is
sovereign in creation, providence and redemption. He sent His Son to die
for man’s sins so that those who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior
are adopted as sons. The Father gave authority over all mankind and the
Church to the Son. (Ephesians 1:2, John 17:2, Acts 2:32)
Son
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ as fully God and fully man;
in His virgin birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His victorious
and atoning death for our sin; in His resurrection; in His ascension to
the right hand of the Father; and in His return in power and glory. He
is the one who sent the Holy Spirit to believers. (John 16:7, Hebrews
1:3; Luke 1:26-35; I Peter 2:21-22; Mark 10:32-34; I Corinthians 15:3-8;
John 14:1-3,28)
Holy
Spirit - We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit
who indwells Christians enabling them to live godly lives. His work is
to glorify Christ and make Him known. (John 16:14, Romans 8:14, Ephesians
1:13-14; Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 6:19)
Man’s
State
We believe that God created man in His image, but that because of Adam’s
disobedience, God’s curse was brought on all mankind. This fallen
state removed man from fellowship with his Creator, and distorted his
relationship with his fellow man and the rest of creation, leaving mankind
in a state of spiritual death and subject to the curse of physical death.
(I Corinthians 15:21-22, Ephesians 2:1-3, Romans 8:6-7)
God’s
Redemptive Plan
We believe that mankind has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory
and therefore is under judgment of eternal punishment. Because God loved
man with such a great love, He chose to send His only Son to die in man’s
place. This gift of salvation is by God’s grace through faith in
Jesus, and not by man’s works, so that all who believe in Him are
new creatures and will live eternally with God in body, soul, and spirit.
(John 3:16, Romans 3:23, 6:23, Revelation 20:14-15)
The
Church
We believe in the spiritual unity of all people who truly trust in our
Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the authority of the local church, the
visible Body of Christ on earth, which consists of professing believers
who assemble for worship, fellowship and ministry. (Matthew 16:16-18,
John 14:23, Acts 2:43, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 4:4-6, Colossians
1:24, Hebrews 10:24-25)
