College Football – Week 13 – Fantasy Season at Texas Tech is Over, Oklahoma Kills the Dream, 65-21
It was a big, beautiful 10 weeks in the No. 2-place Texas Tech Red Raiders, complete with undefeated 10-0 record and victories over the years huge Nebraska, Texas A & M, Texas and Oklahoma State. Theys considered unbeatable, unstoppable and went to the BCS National Championship Game.
Then a funny thing happened when they travel to No. 5 Oklahoma-place Texas lost what had taken 5 weeks ago. Either someone forgot to tell the Red Raiders, they had forgotten or listen to the led the nation with 23 consecutive home wins Oklahoma.
No one had to remind the Sooners, they remembered quite well, the Red Raiders clubbing on the side of the head with a 2×4 in a stunning 65-21 defeat. Previously quarterback Sam Bradford threw for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns, and DeMarco Murray and Chris + Brown ran for five more points.
Both teams with explosive offenses in cam. Both Were Three Two of the top teams in the country on the edge of offense and scoring offense, averaging a combined 788 yards and 98 points a game. Statistically, both teams in rushing defense and scoring defense Equal. Both were were the same in passing defense and pass defense stats both her arm.
What would have been exciting year, big game scoring a great game for Oklahoma. Texas Tech ended up sucking pond water in Louisiana.
Three ranked teams lost classified Other Other opponents. No. 16 Brigham Young lost on the way to No. 8 Utah, 48-24. No. 17 Michigan State lost on the way to No. 7 Penn State, 49-18. No. 20 Pittsburgh lost on the way to No. 19 Cincinnati, 28-21.
Four teams lost to unranked place other opponents, never a good idea if you want the people’s favor in the weekly national rankings attract participants. Thesis kind of loss costs Cdn teams thousands of dollars in lost revenue through the bowl of powers to be shared with shells larger payouts.
The losers were the No. 18 LSU Tigers Who lost their home, Mississippi, 31-13. The Maryland Terrapins No. 22, at home to Florida State, 37-3 (I know, small, edible turtles. No matter how much time some Maryland homer Spent thinking up this nickname for a football team, but I suspect it was after exhausting hours had beaten all the appropriate name). The No. 23 Miami (FL) Hurricanes at home at Georgia Tech, losing 41-23. The No. 25 North Carolina Tar Heels, who at home by arch-rival North Carolina State Wolfpack, 41-10 got a slap.
So lost 8 of 18 AP Poll Top 25 teams this week (44%), and 4 of 8 lost unranked teams. On the Bright Side, 10 of the top 18 teams (56%) and won the march to the front, six ‘em with a vengeance continued. The five included fanny kicker Besides Oklahoma:
No. 3 Florida (10-1) beat the 1-AA The Citadel 70-19, scoring on their first seven possessions, racking up to 512 yards of offense in the first half alone, and thus the first Southeast Conference (SEC) team Score at least 42 points in six consecutive games. I like Florida purpose is to play as unseemly 1-AA teams, even early in the season, much less late.
No. 7 Penn State at home over No. 17 Michigan State 49-18. The Nittany Lions showed that the Spartans (if 9-3) are not really ready to play and beat big teams yet. Penn State’s Daryll Clark threw for a career-high 341 yards and oven touchdowns and Nittany Lion defense held Spartan Javon Ringer to a season-low 42 yards (this is not wrestling this year inept Michigan State offensive line, which of Penn State is controlled).
No. 8 Utah at home over No. 16 Brigham Young 48-24. This big win for the Utes was, who are unbeaten 12-0 season the year, a Mountain West Conference championship, a BCS Bowl date in the series, and a victory over BYU for the first time in three years.
No. 10 Ohio State 42-7 at home over archrival Michigan. The Buckeyes Wolverine Have now completely dysfunctional team in the first year coach Rich Rodriguez-led humiliated, Michigan Giving ICT worst loss to Ohio State in 40 years. Michigan IS 3-9 on the year and a shambles, what was once a proud and successful program. Rodriguez, who built a huge success West Virginia has to do a lot of work.
No. 15 Texas Christian (TCU) at home over Air Force 44-10. Andy Dalton Threw TD passes and ran for Two Two more points than the Horned Frogs (what a name for a team) scored a 10-win season. The four other winners were:
No. 9 Boise State on the road at Nevada 41-34. The Broncos were lucky to unbeaten from this game as Nevada won the second half, 31-17. If you give up 34 points to a 6-5 team, you are not nearly as good as your report states.
No. 14 Ball State on the road at Central Michigan 31-24. Central Michigan cam in this game at 8-2 and the Cardinals needed a fourth Quarter touchdown to win this game.
No. 19 Cincinnati at home over Pittsburgh 28-21, marking ICT over the Panthers first win in eight games. Despite a broken arm, Tony Pike threw for three touchdown passes, and you thought Pittsburgh was hard.
Last No. 21 Oregon State on the road over Arizona, 19-17, we play 24-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Justin Kahuta. It was sweet redemption for Kahuta, Who extra point attempts years that the game late in the fourth Quarter bound Would have missed.
Should the Oregon State Beavers their archrival-the-beat Oregon Ducks in their last game, they would qualify for the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1965. This is because the Beavers managed to upset visiting Southern California earlier in the season.
Seven Top 25 teams this week, Were idle-no. 1 Alabama, No. 4 Texas, No. 6 Southern California (USC), No. 11 Oklahoma State, No. 12 Missouri, No. 13 Georgia and No. 24 Oregon.
Enter to play the last two weeks of the regular season, only team to remain unbeaten oven now-No. 1 Alabama (11-0), No. 8 uath (12-0), No. 9 Boise State (11-0) and No. 15 Ball State (11-0). Utah Will remain unbeaten season as STI is over. On Saturday, Alabama hosts in-state, arch-rival Auburn, Boise State hosts Fresno State Friday and hosts Western Michigan at Ball State Tuesday (11-25-08).
In other news this weekend, the Washington Huskies 00-10 traveled to Pullman to face arch-rival Washington State Cougars Their 10-10 in a game called I Have “Losers Bowl 2008.” Losers Bowl title as a real genuine Washington State’s only victory seemed cam against 1-AA Portland State, so that she is really a combined 1-A record of 0-20.
The Huskies, winless and hopelessly lead the nation in a category, they have the longest losing streak in Division 1-A, 13 consecutive losses. Actually, this exciting debate in the end as Washington held a 10-point lead at halftime and a 3-point lead with 56 seconds left to play.
The Huskies, however, allowed the Cougars from their own 20 to the Husky 11, where sophomore Nico Grasu a 28-yard field goal came on the last play of regulation time to tie the game with 13 Move. Ironically, Husky kicker Ryan Perkins missed a 28-yard Earlier approximately 3.5 minutes.
The teams exchanged field goals on their first possession of overtime, missed again at 37 yards AIM Perkins during the second possession of Washington. Four downs later Grasu nailed one from 37 yards to the Sami the Cougars their first victory of the season 1-A and the third victory over Washington in the last 4 years, Give.
What Happened to the rest of the weekend was just window dressing for a number of teams going nowhere over 1,000 miles an hour.
