[Letter of April 30, 2008]
Dear friend of High Desert Christian College,
It has been a while since we sent out a communication piece and we wanted to let you know about several exciting changes going on at the college.
The college spent the last year getting a bible diploma program authorized by the state. This allows students of core classes ad HDCC to receive transfer credit at several Christian colleges and universities and be able to apply for transfer credit at another group of colleges and universities.
With the expanded opportunities, the HDCC board decided to bring on new leadership to help expand the scope of the school and reach students from beyond Central Oregon.
The college will be renamed, several missions organizations are being pursued as partners and a clear strategy of how special events, community education and collegiate education fit into the overall vision will be communicated.
In addition to the structural changes, a new space in the Old Mill Marketplace (where Azillion Beads used to be located) has been secured as a college bookstore, lecture space and office space for missions.
With the opening of the college bookstore (called The Kilns), we’ll be hosting two vision and fundraising events taking place May 15th and May 22nd, 2008. These events are the perfect opportunity to hear more about all the recent changes, the mission and vision, see the new retail facilities and learn more about what is coming up and how you can be involved. (See enclosed invite for more information).
In the meantime, if you wish to stay in touch, the college now has an e-newsletter; please visit the web site at www.hdccbend.org and sign up for the e-newsletter to receive monthly updates. There is also a blog for the college where you can read short essays, book reviews and stay up to date on the latest happenings: www.blog.kilnscollege.org.
We look forward to helping students of all ages discern their calling through education and ministry opportunities.
I look forward to sharing the vision with you!
Sincerely,
Ken Wytsma
President
